Djiva

The award-winning group
Djiva is a West Australian act fronted by two
female vocalists who perform cruisey infusions of gutsy soul, folk and
roots.
Djiva
exhibit an earthy sensuality, an independence of spirit and a fresh
contemporary feel, and the voices of the two women blend with the ease
of old friends, creating a vocal palette rich in colour and texture.
"Djiva entered stage right, the harmonies were as beautiful as the
ladies singing them, and they were beautiful. Soaring vocals from
Jessie Lloyd and Della Rae Morrison had the crowd mesmerised, they
truly were a joy to watch. Songs of desire filled the room and the
crowd were lapping it up."

Madjitil Moorna Choir

With growing awareness of the gap in opportunity between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, members of
Zig Zag Community Arts Inc in 2006 began a project which has become
Madjitil Moorna – Magical Bush Sounds.
Singing
both traditional songs in language and contemporary songs of love, loss
and joy, the group has been winning over audiences since their first
performance in 2006. The
all-ages community choir sings indigenous music and has been led by
award-winning indigenous musicians Jessie Lloyd & Della Rae Morrison. In 2009, George Walley
will
join Della Rae
as co-musical directors.
‘Their spirited performance was outstanding and a credit to the musical directors'
His Excellency, Dr Ken Michael AC, October 2007.
Madjitil Moorna sing "The Sorry Song" at the National Apology in Perth in 2008. What a moving day it was with Madjitil Moorna Choir leading the audience to sing The Sorry Song.
